The PIC Steelers win streak in the Bunnings Warehouse NPC has come to an end at the hands of Tasman after a 27-17 loss in Blenheim on Sunday.

Hunting a third straight win for the first time since 2017, Reon Graham’s side made a promising start with gale-force winds at their back in the first spell.

Hooker Ian West-Stevens pounced on a loose ball and dived over from short-range to put the visitors in front after 14 minutes.

Tevita Ofa, fresh off his game-winning sideline conversion on Wednesday night, added the extras along with a penalty 10 minutes later for a 10-0 lead.

But Tasman worked their way into the contest in the final 10 minutes of the half, to draw level by halftime with a pair of tries.

They took control with the monster wind at their backs in the second half and added three more tries for a 27-10 advantage.

Skipper Sean Reidy reached out to score with eight minutes remaining to give his side a chance at a bonus point but it wasn’t to be.

The PIC Steelers return home for a final round robin match at Navigation Homes Stadium on Saturday when Manawatu comes to town.
