Counties Manukau Steelers halfback and All Blacks representative Cam Roigard has taken out the supreme award at the Counties Manukau Sport Sporting Excellence Awards on Thursday night.
Roigard was named Sports Man of the Year as well after a superb year in which he was selected in the All Blacks World Cup squad, established himself as the best halfback in New Zealand during the early rounds of Super Rugby and fought back from a serious injury to help the Steelers make the quarter-finals of the NPC competition.
The 24-year-old is currently away with the All Blacks of their Northern Hemisphere Tour.
"It's awesome to see Cam achieving these awards,'" said Steelers coach Reon Graham. "He is such a competitor and his determination to get back on the field after a serious injury and perform at such a high standard straight away was very impressive.
"It's always good having him back in our Steelers environment and we are proud to have Cam as part of the Counties family."
