PIC Steelers and All Blacks halfback Cameron Roigard has been shortlisted for the Sportsman of the Year at the Honda NZ Sporting Excellence Awards, run by Counties Manukau Sport.
Roigard enjoyed a terrific Super Rugby campaign with the Hurricanes before earning a call-up to the All Blacks mid-season.
He was part of the World Cup squad and thrived in the games he played in.
Roigard is up against the likes of trampoline stars Dylan Schmidt and Regan Langford, Black Sticks hockey player Simon Child, stock car driver Scott Tennant and PIC Steelers teammate Jonathan Taumateine, who played for Samoa at the World Cup.
Joey Taumateine, who starred for Wesley College as well as Counties Manukau representative age group sides, is a finalist in the Junior Sportsman category.
McNamara Cup champions Manurewa have been confirmed as a finalist in the Team of the Year category after they secured a converted try after the siren to retain their McNamara Cup in one of the all-time great finals against Karaka.
Manurewa Rugby Club’s Carla Hayes has been acknowledged for her work within the club and will be a recipient of the Volunteer of the Year award.
