Joey Taumateine debuts for NZ Men's Development Sevens
Counties Manukau Rugby Academy member Joey Taumateine played for the New Zealand Men’s Development Sevens team at the Howard Hinton Sevens tournament in France over the weekend.

The Wesley College product has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the past few months. “Joey Taumateine’s involvement in NZ Development 7’s this year has been a significant achievement,” said CMRFU Academy Manager Richie Harris. “Joey has and continues to put in “eye catching” performances whether for Wesley College 7’s back at December Condors, NZ Schools 7’s and now NZ 7’s Development Team. “To add perspective to Joey’s progress, the Development Team trains against and “feeds” players to the All Black 7’s, who are now only two months out from the Paris 2024 Olympics.” Taumateine will continue with the side at his weekend’s Eaast 7’s in Haguenau this weekend.
