The Counties Energy Heat have been beaten 37-10 by the Auckland Storm in their week five Farah Palmer Cup match presented by Bunnings Warehouse at Navigation Homes Stadium on Friday.
After two impressive wins and then a game in which they pushed competition leaders Waikato hard, the Counties Energy Heat were well below par against their northern neighbours.
They conceded four first half tries to trail 22-0 at the break.
Saua Leaupepetele’s side responded after halftime and scored tries through winger Jaymie Kolose and fullback Mererangi Paul.
But the comeback wasn’t to be as the Storm closed out the game strongly.
The Counties Energy Heat remain in fifth place on the Premiership table and travel to Christchurch next Saturday to play Canterbury.
