Fans are being offered a chance to buy their own piece of Counties Manukau Rugby history with game-worn, one-off throwback jerseys available for purchase on TradeMe.
On Sunday, October 2, 2022, the PIC Steelers wore a one-off heritage jersey against Wellington in the Bunnings Warehouse NPC in honour of the Union’s iconic wingers from the 1990s – Jonah Lomu and Joeli Vidiri.
Hand-stitched with No 11 on the left sleeve and No 14 on the right, the heritage jerseys, supplied by merchandise partner Canterbury of New Zealand, also include an embroidered number from one to 23.
The jerseys of the starting team – one through 15 – were auctioned off in the Phil Kingsley Jones Lounge after full time, with nearly $40,000 raised, including a bid of more than $3,000 for Adam Brash’s No 7 jersey from current PIC Steeler and All Black Dalton Papali’i.
Some of the proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation of New Zealand.
