Counties Manukau Rugby is sad to report renowned former representative referee Garry Klatt passed away on Saturday.
Klatt refereed 22 first class matches between 1975-1988. He made his first-class debut when he controlled a Counties v Waikato match in 1975.
He was considered the Union’s leading referee for a long time and officiated a huge number of club matches during his time as a referee.
Counties Manukau Rugby chief executive Chad Shepherd said he will be missed.
“Garry was a popular figure in Counties Manukau Rugby circles and was held in very high regard as a referee,” Shepherd added.
“We pass on our sincere condolences to Garry’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
