The Counties Manukau Steelers have won for the second straight week as they claimed maximum points in a 25-14 win over Northland at Navigation Homes Stadium on Sunday.
It lifts Reon Graham’s side to eighth spot on the Bunnings Warehouse NPC table.
The home side also become the inaugural holders of the Bruce Robertson Trophy – a new piece of silverware honouring the late legendary All Black in games played between Counties Manukau, Northland, Auckland and Hawke’s Bay.
AJ Alatimu scored the opening try in the second minute before Tevita Ofa and Etene Nanai-Seturo also added first half scores.
Northland fought back in the second spell to make a contest before a try to Jadin Kingi – the grandson of Robertson – sealed the game in the 72nd minute.
The Steelers host Otago next Sunday at Navigation Homes Stadium.
