The Counties Manukau Steelers produced their best performance of the NPC season as they beat Wellington 51-12 at Navigation Homes Stadium on Friday night.

The win gave the home side their first win in the Jonah Tali Lomu Memorial Trophy match since its inception in 2016 - all six previous contest going the way of the Lions.

The Steelers played exceptionally well, scoring six tries in all.

It means a win against Manawatu in their final round robin game next Saturday will all but secure a quarterfinal berth.
