The Counties Energy Heat have made a statement with their fifth straight win in the Farah Palmer Cup – a 35-20 victory over neighbours Auckland.
Sariyah Patai and Yurina Shinno scored a first half double to help the Heat to a narrow 22-15 lead at halftime.
The Heat provided two more tries in the second spell to secure the win and maintain their lead atop the standings – opening up a nine-point lead over their nearest rivals in the process.
The win also secured the JJ Stewart Trophy & Te Toki Mareikura Trophy coming home to Counties Manukau.
They host second-placed Waikato at Navigation Homes Stadium next Sunday.
