The Counties Energy Heat have lost their final round robin game to neighbours Waikato after going down 57-29 at Navigation Homes Stadium on Sunday.

The Heat fell behind early but fought back to lead 14-7 midway through the first half before Waikato took control.

The scoreline blew out in the final quarter but the Heat had already secured a home semi-final after their blistering start to the season.

They will have the bye next week before going into the semi-finals.
