Club form has been largely responsible for the selection of the Bayleys Counties Manukau Cavaliers side to play North Harbour on Wednesday.
A total of 37 players have been named in Tai Lavea’s squad to play the match in Mairangi Bay, which gives a good indication of who is in the frame for PIC Steelers selection for the NPC later in the season.
Manurewa boasts 10 players and Karaka has eight while Ardmore Marist and Waiuku have five players each with Patumahoe having four and Pukekohe three.
The squad sees the return of veteran hooker Joe Royal, who is back playing in the Union again with Patumahoe. Props Sila Puafisa and Duke Nginingini from Karaka are included as is hard-working loose forward Adam Brash of Bombay.
Pukekohe fullback Jarrod Halliday’s club form has been rewarded and he is listed to start at fullback while highly regarded development player Jadin Kingi has also been named in the squad.
