The Weymouth Women got their first win in their debut season as they beat Glenfield 19-15 in Richards-Martin Shield Pool C play on Saturday.
With the club having established the side for the first time this season, a win in their second competition game will be considered a massive success.
Patumahoe also picked up a win to improve to 2-0 on the season as they accounted for Pakuranga 42-5 in Pool D.
Pukekohe moved into the top four of the Coleman Shield (Women’s Premier) with an impressive 38-33 win over North Shore at Colin Lawrie Fields on Saturday.
“North Shore played really well, capitalised off our mistakes and their outside backs always gained metres,” Pukekohe coach Azania Watene told Counties Sports Hub.
“We made it difficult on ourselves but have come away with key work ons for this week and we’re looking forward to next weekend.”
Manurewa fell to rivals Ponsonby 52-46 in a high scoring affair at Mountfort Park.
It is the second narrow loss in successive weeks for Manurewa, who lie in third place in the standings.
Papakura were hammered 53-0 by a very good College Rifles outfit that tops the standings at present.
