The Papakura women’s side had the rare achievement of having five sisters all play in the same team at the same time on Saturday.

Sisters Shannon Raukura Tupaea, Queenie Ewai Tupaea, Jodi Aroha Tupaea, Atawhai Message and Kelly Waimarie Tupaea-Hoet all played for the Papakura side, featuring in the side’s back line as they played North Shore in the Coleman Shield opener.

All hail from Papakura High School, where they played together in various sports.

Papakura suffered a first-up loss at the hands of North Shore but were delighted to get the team on the park after a challenging lead-in to the season.

They will be much better for the outing.
