Interested in playing rugby but worried about the contact?
Well, read on.
Introducing RADiCool Rugby – a non-contact form of the game we love for boys and girls between the ages of eight and 13.
Here at Counties Manukau Rugby we want to ensure everyone has the opportunity to try their hand at rugby. That’s why we are launching two “Have a Go” days in March.
On March 13, we are opening the gates at Navigation Homes Stadium at 5pm in Pukekohe and calling on all boys and girls to come and learn more about Rippa Rugby.
Then, a week later on March 20, we’ll head further north to Bruce Pulman Park in Takanini for another 5pm start.
Here’s everything you need to know:
What is RADiCool Rugby?
RADiCool Rugby is all forms of non-contact rugby spread across different grades and ages as shown in the table below. Rather than be tackled, players wear a special belt with tags on them and are considered to be tackled when an opposition player rips the tag off.
Girls | Boys | Mixed |
Y3/4 Rippa | Y3/4 Rippa | Y3/4 Rippa |
Y5/6 Rippa | Y5/6 Quik Rip (Rip Rugby) | Y5/6 Rippa |
Y7/8 Quik Rip (Rip Rugby) | Y7/8 Quik Rip (Rip Rugby) | Y7/8 Quik Rip (Rip Rugby) |
Who can play?
We welcome any player, both boys and girls, from the ages of 8-13 years old from any school or region.
What can we expect to see on the day?
Do I need to do anything between now and the actual day?
No, just turn up on the day with a great attitude and willingness to get involved.
