Waiuku College made a promising start to the Bhana Family Farms Counties Manukau Secondary Schools First XV season with a 36-5 win over Manurewa High School in pre-season play Saturday.
Pukekohe High School beat Papakura High School 19-5 while Rosehill College got a big 59-0 win over the Pukekohe High XVA side.
Pukekohe High edged Papakura High 24-19 on the road in Boys U15 Open action.
In other matches in the grade, Tuakau College beat Te Kauwhata College 49-0, while Waiuku College blanked Alfriston College 38-0.
The newest school in the region – St Ignatius of Loyola Catholic College began life in the Boys U14 Open grade with an impressive 34-12 win over Wesley College.
Pukekohe High beat Waiuku College 84-5.
In Girls 12s action, James Cook High picked up a 20-12 win on the road against Alfriston College.
Pukekohe High defeated Tuakau College 42-20 while Papakura High beat Waiuku 30-5.
