Counties Manukau Rugby will run a new program in 2023 designed to engage under 5s in the game of rugby.
With the support of NZ Rugby, Counties Manukau Rugby is piloting a program for pre-schoolers that will give them safe, engaging and affordable access to the sport at the entry level.
The program will be run in four local areas - Weymouth, Papakura, Pukekohe and Tuakau in 2023 and will be delivered by qualified and experienced Rugby Development staff.
It will take place over a six-week period, beginning in term 1, with a number of different 40 minute sessions planned to meet the community’s needs.
Counties Manukau Rugby’s Community Rugby Champion John Hall is leading the initiative.
“I’m really looking forward to taking this pilot out into our community and to grow, empower and inspire our under 5s to experience the game we love in a tailored way for them,” said Hall.
Expressions of interest for the sessions are being called for now with the program beginning 28th February.
