This is my fifth year being a part of the Counties Manukau under 85kg grade and I am feeling quite excited for the growth and skill level that has come through the grade. We have an exciting balanced team this year in the Counties Manukau under 85s, and for 2019 our squad is aiming to be better on and off the field, learning from previous years and using that to fuel our most successful start to a season.
We have already bagged four great wins against King Country, Thames Valley, North Harbour and most recently Waikato - which was a great testament to our on-field flair and abilities. The added excitement of the opportunity to play as curtain raiser for the PIC Steelers game against Auckland got the boys extra pumped to take the win 25-10.
Our goal this season is to develop a culture that gives the under 85kg grade something to aim for at the end of the club season. I believe that this grade is heading to be one of the biggest grades in New Zealand.
The boys have been working hard as a group to play an exciting brand of rugby and hopefully they can continue to express that in our next game against Auckland.
Fast pace and skilful rugby… what else could you ask for.
