The Club of Origin Sevens tournament held at Patumahoe over the weekend proved a tremendous success with the home side crowned U18 champs and Karaka taking out the U15 competition.
The day attracted 11 teams and was a big success.
Patumahoe and Karaka played out a thrilling final in the U18 competition that finished in a 24-24 draw in regulation before the home side ran out 31-24 winners in extra time.
Karaka finished top in the U15 competition, edging out runners-up Pukekohe.
“It's an important event to stay connected with players, coaches, and managers from the Junior section and Secondary Schools,” Counties Manukau Rugby Club Capability Manager Annette Tossell said. “We recognise the work our clubs do as they continue to build those strong relationships.
“Thanks to Paul [Batters] and the team at Patumahoe Rugby Club for hosting the COO 7s, the fields were in great condition.
“Outstanding effort from the referee's - thanks for refereeing the games. Thanks to Richard [Spranger] for taking the photos.
