Arthur Gordon has been confirmed as the new chairman of the Counties Manukau Rugby Supporter’s Club after their AGM on Sunday.
Arthur, who has been on the committee for the past decade, takes over the reins from long-time chairman Trevor Thomson.
Trevor and wife Doreen, who have been central figures in the establishment of the Supporter’s Club and its ongoing existence, will remain as committee members.
“It is very daunting to say the least,” admitted Arthur. “I have rather large shoes to fill. We have given Trevor an honorary position so he will still be involved and around the place like normal.”
Counties Manukau Rugby chief executive Aaron Lawton said the change in chairman marks the end of an era at the Supporter’s Club.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Trevor for his quite phenomenal contribution to our Supporter’s Club,” said Lawton.
“Both he and Doreen have poured an enormous amount of work into the organisation, and we will be forever grateful for those efforts.
“We congratulate Arthur on his appointment and wish him well in the role. We look forward to working with him this season.”
