Manurewa women hunt title
The Manurewa women’s team will look to complete the perfect season as they face Ponsonby for the Auckland Premier crown on Saturday at Western Springs Stadium.
The Manurewa outfit has not been beaten all season and will start Saturday’s contest as favourites.
The game kicks off at 2.45pm.
Papakura women face Papatoetoe in the Premier Reserves final at 1pm.

CODs to consider transfer rules
In the wake of several players transferring out of Papakura in recent weeks the topic of player transfers will be a big debate at Monday night’s Council of Delegates meeting.
One option that will be considered is bringing the transfer deadline forward towards the start of the season to limit so much movement late in the year.

Competition structure to be debated
The other big talking point at Monday night’s meeting will be what the future structure of the competition will look like in 2021 and beyond.
Clubs were asked to go away and discuss possible options a month ago and debate around the future look of the sport in the region will be shaped in the coming weeks.
Players want to start later and have Easter off but until now clubs have insisted on Steelers players being available in club finals as well as allowing all teams that want to play Premier football that luxury.

Spotted
Counties Manukau Rugby Union commercial manager Scott Penney army rolling/tumbling down the embankment at Navigation Homes Stadium. Apparently he was lending a hand with some maintenance but his version of events differs from onlookers.

Onewhero celebrations
Onewhero will celebrate Ladies Day as well as recognise their centenary this season as they face Bombay at home in Premier 1 while their U85kg side faces Karaka on Saturday. A live band will help the club celebrate into the night.

Ladies Day at Drury
Sticking with events this weekend – the Drury Rugby Club will hold Ladies Day when their Senior side takes on top-of-the-table Te Kauwhata at Drury Domain. Complimentary wine and nibbles will be provided as the club recognises all of the women that contribute to the club.

Big night in TK
Te Kauwhata Rugby Sports Club will hold an “Entertaining Evening with Guest Speakers” on Saturday night with Olympic rower Hamish Bond, Chiefs stalwart Dwayne Sweeney and commentator Scotty Stevenson in attendance.
Doors open at 6pm for a 7pm start with dinner included in the price – tables of 8 for $400 and 10 for $500. Individual tickets are $55.

Big hit in Beachlands Maraetai
Finally the Beachlands Maraetai fundraiser last Saturday night went off perfectly. Reports say the ham on the bone served for dinner was phenomenal and their yearly fundraiser night was quite the success.

Moves like a panther
Panther (aka James Tupou – the popular Patumahoe prop) nearly scored a try last week in the Patumahoe Premier 2 match against Weymouth.
The crowd was roaring with support but as he got to the try line, a Weymouth player slapped it out of his hands. The whole crowd had a laugh and the opposition were patting him on the back while laughing with him. It was great entertainment for the supporters who adore the big fella.
