All Blacks and Blues number eight Hoskins Sotutu has re-signed with the Counties Manukau Steelers until 2026.

Sotutu enjoyed a strong campaign with the Steelers in 2023 and was recognised for his performances being crowned the teams Player of the Year.

He has also re-signed with the Blues until the end of 2026.

As a pivotal figure in the Blues squad, he has shown outstanding form throughout the 2024 DHL Super Rugby Pacific season, solidifying his status as one of the country’s best No.8’s.

In the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season to-date, Sotutu is the leading try scorer (9) while recording a further five try assists. He has averaged 7.9 metres per carry in this campaign – the best rate of any forward in the competition (min 50 carries).

Steelers Head Coach Reon Graham said it was exciting to get the extended commitment from Sotutu who has been with the Union since 2021.

“Hoskins was a dominant force for us on the field in 2023 and it’s been great to see him make his mark in the Super Rugby Pacific season with the Blues this year.

“We are thrilled to retain a quality player like Hoskins, not only for his on-field abilities but for what he brings to our group as someone who really epitomises our values through the pride in the hoops.

“His dedication to always giving his best and his passion for seeing the game grow in our community has seen him become an invaluable member of our Steelers squad and we look forward to him continuing his rugby journey with us.”
